He competed up to Level 4 in rally, and has also won Scentwork UK online trials.

Along with Pip, Emma's other show-bred Labradors, Pure and Ursula, are working their way up through the gundog graded field tests offered by The Gundog Club. Prue currently has her Grade 3 Award. Emma's youngest Labrador Ursula, is currently competing in Level 5 Scentwork UK trials, and has a win at Level 5 also. She is also competing in 'Excellent' level in NNA trials and was currently third in the NNA gundog league last year. Sula shown at championship Level. She has multiple placings, qualified for Crufts '22, '23 and '24, and was placed 2nd in her Crufts class in 2023.

Although Emma is proud of all her dogs' achievements, they are first and foremost family pets who live happily and comfortably in her home. Their needs, enjoyment of all they partake in, is of upmost priority.

Over the last decade, Emma has been teaching puppy and adult dog training classes and offering one-to-one training sessions and behavioural consultations. This has given her extensive experience and a thorough understanding of how to work with a diverse range of dog breeds and personality types.

Working with Dogs Trust and some smaller, independent dog charities, Emma has helped many rescue dogs who now live better lives thanks to the support, knowledge and practical skills she has provided to their owners.

Close connection with veterinary professionals also means that Emma regularly takes clients on via vet referrals. She also has experience as an expert witness for court cases involving dogs and has assessed dogs on behalf of social services.

Katie Weston BSc PGCE PACT

Katie joined Puppy Plus in 2024. Katie has a BSc in Biology, and a PGCE in Secondary Science. Katie is a member of PACT, and is also a registered Animal Training Instructor (ATI) with the ABTC.

Katie has a very analytical mind, a must for solving dog training problems! She also has years of teaching experience. Katie taught in various schools all over Sheffield before a move to Wales led to sharing her home with her parents and two collie-cross rescue dogs, Gwen and Meg. Several years later the Border Collie puppy, Nellie, entered Katie’s life.

Nellie was a challenge, a sensitive collie who needed thoughtful training and an adaptable approach, and it was through her that Katie met the team at Puppy Plus. After trying many different dog sports, it became very clear that Nellie loved scentwork, and so did her handler!

Katie now competes at Scentwork UK, Nosework Games and National Nosework Association Trials, with Nellie achieving a top 15 placing in the Foundation and Pre-Entry league in 2023, and has now moved on to winning Entry level trials. Katie is an NNA judge, and regularly travels around the country attending training sessions with scent detection experts.

Outside of dog training Katie is a professional textile artist, running her own business for over 10 years. Chances are the jumper she’s wearing is hand dyed, hand spun and hand knitted. She also teaches these skills at textile groups all over the UK.

Michelle Cleary BSc PGCE PACT

Michelle joined Puppy Plus in 2024. Michelle has a BSc in Applied Zoology, and a PGCE in Primary Education. Michelle is currently working towards her professional dog training qualification with PACT also. Michelle has a passion for animal behaviour.. During her 20 years of Early Years teaching in London, Somerset and Bristol, Michelle spent weekends and evenings studying dog training and behaviour, initially to support her very challenging rescue dog. This eventually led to a role as a Behaviourist at Bath Cats And Dogs Home, before setting up her own training and behaviour business, 'Cleary Canines' in Bristol.

Michelle has teaching qualifications in Hoopers, Parkour and Tricks, as well as puppy training which is her speciality – still an Early Years teacher!

In 2022, Michelle and her husband moved from Bristol to near Llanfair Caereinion to have a change of lifestyle and run a boutique glamping business, The Secret Yurts.

A careful search for the right place to continue training and having fun with her own dogs (Anja and Inka – two very different German Shepherds) led her to Puppy Plus. Here Anja started on her scentwork journey and Inka started with Good Citizens Bronze then Silver. Both are now competing in NNA trials, Nosework Games and Scentwork UK Trials, and Michelle continues to learn more, attending courses and workshops to support them.

Outside of dog training Michelle owns and runs her glamping business (which is super dog friendly, naturally!) and loves a good crime novel (or dog training book!)

Nia Summers

Nia joined Puppy Plus in 2024 as an apprentice, working towards her Level 2 in Animal Training and Care.

Nia grew up with a Labrador called Ziggy, and Golden Retriever Cross called Ozzy, who were a huge part of her life. Nia now lives with a very busy working Cocker Spaniel called Callie, who Nia is training to become a working Gundog.

Nia is a great help at the barn, she is confident handling a range of dogs, and is always ready to jump in and help with any situation. She is level headed and  understands what dog's need, from both a physical and behavioural perspective . She is developing her training and handling skills, as part of her apprenticeship.

Nia keeps the shop in pristine condition, and all the shelves stocked! She is becoming quite and expert on dog nutrition also!
