Over the years, Emma has trained and competed with her own dogs in various dog sports.

Emma began her training journey with Baxter, and Elsie who were both Showbred Labradors. With her chocolate Labrador Baxter, she achieved his Level 5 Rally Obedience title, achieved high scores in Working Trials, and competed in Gundog Working Tests. Elsie competed in gundog working tests also, achieved her Level 6 Rally Obedience Title and was awarded the Kennel Club's Working Gundog Certificate. Elsie also gained an RBCC and her stud book number through showing.

Springer Spaniel Pip, is now Emma's veteran dog, being nearly 13 years old. Like Elsie, he competed in Gundog Working Tests and achieved the Kennel Club Working Gundog Certificate. Pip has also competed in Agility, and has his Novice Dog parkour title with the IDPKA. He competed up to Level 4 in Rally, and has also won Scentwork UK online trials.

Along with Pip, Emma's other show-bred Labradors, Prue and Ursula, are working their way up through the gundog graded field tests offered by The Gundog Club. Prue currently has her Grade 3 Award. Emma has also competed in agility, hoopers and rally obedience events with Prue winning classes in all.

Prue has also been shown at Championship Level, has been awarded her stud book number and won her third Challenge Certificate, to be awarded her Show Champion Title.

Emma's Labrador Sula is currently competing in Elite level NNA trials and was third in the NNA gundog league in 2023. Sula also enjoys showing at championship Level. She has her stud book number and was placed 2nd in her Crufts class in 2023.

Emma's youngest dogs Alys and Doris are also kept busy with a range of activities. Alys enjoys Hoopers and is competing in Elite Level NNA Trials. She was first in the NNA Gundog League in 2025 and second overall in Team of the Year. She also enjoys her gundog training. Doris has achieved her TS3 Tracking award with Scent and Track UK and is training to become a Therapy dog with Therapy Dog Training UK.

Although Emma is proud of all her dogs' achievements, they are first and foremost family pets who live happily and comfortably in her home. Their needs, enjoyment of all they partake in, is of upmost priority.

Over the last decade, Emma has been teaching puppy and adult dog training classes and offering one-to-one training sessions and behavioural consultations. This has given her extensive experience and a thorough understanding of how to work with a diverse range of dog breeds and personality types.

Working with Dogs Trust and some smaller, independent dog charities, Emma has helped many rescue dogs who now live better lives thanks to the support, knowledge and practical skills she has provided to their owners.

Both Prue and Doris are excellent stooge dogs, who help Emma with her work with dogs who struggle to feel comfortable and safe around other dogs.

Close connection with veterinary professionals also means that Emma regularly takes clients on via vet referrals. She also has experience as an expert witness for court cases involving dogs and has assessed dogs on behalf of social services.

Katie Weston BSc PGCE PACT

Katie joined Puppy Plus in 2024. Katie has a BSc in Biology, and a PGCE in Secondary Science. Katie is a member of PACT, and is also a registered Animal Training Instructor (ATI) with the ABTC.

Katie has a very analytical mind, a must for solving dog training problems! She also has years of teaching experience. Katie taught in various schools all over Sheffield before a move to Wales led to sharing her home with her parents and two collie-cross rescue dogs, Gwen and Meg. Several years later the Border Collie puppy, Nellie, entered Katie’s life.

Nellie was a challenge, a sensitive collie who needed thoughtful training and an adaptable approach, and it was through her that Katie met the team at Puppy Plus. After trying many different dog sports, it became very clear that Nellie loved scentwork, and so did her handler!

Katie now competes at Scentwork UK, Nosework Games and National Nosework Association Trials, with Nellie achieving a top 15 placing in the Foundation and Pre-Entry league in 2023, and a top 5 placing in the entry and above league in 2025, and has now moved on to winning Elite level trials. Katie is an NNA judge, and regularly travels around the country attending training sessions with scent detection experts. She is also a City and Guilds Scent Detection Dog Handler and Instructor with The College of Scentdogs. She is also a BK9 Hoopers Instructor.

In 2025 Katie welcomed Connie, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever puppy into her life. Connie has started her scentwork journey, but has also embraced lots of other dog sports, including Hoopers, Gundog training and Trick training. At 12 months old Connie is already an Intermediate  Trick Dog, with Katie also becoming qualified as a certified Trick Dog Instructor.

Outside of dog training Katie is a professional textile artist, running her own business for over 10 years. Chances are the jumper she’s wearing is hand dyed, hand spun and hand knitted. She also teaches these skills at textile groups all over the UK.
